Rag Jewelry Tutorial

Looky here! A jewelry tutorial for the severely time challenged. How wonderful!
Why so wonderful? Well, sometimes you just want results now dammit. And sometimes you have bored children who are jumping on the couch and maybe if you distract them and have them quietly focussed on creation rather than destruction your head will stop hurting so much. Or maybe just because its such a darn cute idea.
No matter what your motivations, this has to be the easiest, fastest jewelry project ever. Did I mention easy and fast?

Don’t you just love this idea? You can get detailed instructions on how to make one on A Friend to Knit With.
(She has 3 young children - coincidence?)
I was pleased to see i wasn’t the only one who thought it was cool enough to blog about it either. Fellow crafty person Lisa Clarke thought this jewelry tutorial was the cat’s ass too (my term, not hers :P)

Here’s a picture from Lisa Clarke’s Polka Dot Cottage blog. She writes, “I hope that they’ll fray really nicely after I’ve taken enough showers.” I wonder if they did?

I can satisfy your curiosity, if you’d like… One of the anklets fell off somewhere that I never found it. The following week, the bracelet fell off. The remaining anklet fell off a few days later (obviously need to tie it tighter next time!) They did fray somewhat, but I think if I do it again, I’ll use quilters cottons instead of vintage bedsheets. I think they fraying with the quilting material would be more satisfying.
Good to know, Lisa. I have some quilter’s cotton I was going to try with my daughter
Anyone tried the cotton?
