Great Jewelry Making Blog Anyone?
I just found an awesome jewelry making blog that’s brand-spanking new, but that shows a lot of promise. I think you’ll love it so I just wanted to share it with you.
You may already know Danielle Beaty. She’s the designer and owner of Turtlebay Jewelry. Well, now she’s sharing her knowledge on her new Pro Jewelry Design Blog.

The blog caught my attention (no mean feat, I think I have internet ADHD) because Danielle wrote a post about affordable rolling mills. AND instead of flitting around off to another page (or working like I’m supposed to), I actually stayed awhile and read her other posts. And no, I don’t even know her. This is not one of those promoting your friends type posts. Not that there’s anything wrong with helping your friends out, but isn’t it so much more genuine from a total stranger?
Back to the rolling mill. Here’s a pic of one:
A rolling mill is a specialized tool that can impress texture onto metal sheet. It does other stuff too, but that what I primarily want it for. This tool/mechanism/gadget – what the heck do you call something so honking big that’s not a full sized contraption anyway? – is one of those things I have on my list for when I become independently wealthy. Or have my mortgage paid off. But Danielle found one with good reviews for less than $200 which is just so amazing!
Even if you aren’t interested in rolling mills do check out her blog. I want to thank her for the cool tip.
Here’s what she’s been posting so far:
- Steal of the Week! the whole inexpensive rolling mill thing
- The Human Billboard Debate – a post about wearing your own jewelry
- Choosing Necklace Lengths…- hmm.. I wonder what in the world this could be about?
- Fall Fashion & Jewelry Trends- another self-explanatory title. Nice eye candy too
- Riveting Tutorial- links to her riveting tutorial on Tutrtlebay. A great tutorial I’ll be trying out myself.
- Inspiration & Scribbling- a post about a really cool online scribbling tool. I like it. What a great tool for a quick screenshot tutorial too, don’t you think?
And hey – she says she’s going to write a post about inexpensive lightboxes next – And I have a photography blog post in the works too! We must be the same person. Very weird. Jewelry making blog women thinking alike.
